Let us introduce ourselves…

About

Groove Co. was established in 2019 after a need for Indigenous consulting from and within Central Queensland was needed. From here Groove Co. expanded into candle and skin care retail products with a focus on social reinvestment into Indigenous advocacy for young people. The company then pivoted into the cultural immersion, connection, reclamation, and advocacy space in late 2021. This saw the Company engage with local schools to deliver programs to both students and teachers around Cultural Safety, Advocacy, Knowledge, and Connection. In 2022 Groove Co. expanded into cross-cultural connection and teaching within the wider Pacific through the help of Young Pacific Leaders and the Pacific Australia Youth Association. From mid-2022 through to 2023, Groove Co. introduced its Yambanga Yuindi Program – cultural immersion, reclamation, and exchange. This saw six high school students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent participate in an 8-month cultural immersion process followed by a week exchange in Auckland, New Zealand. Groove Co. is now expanding with a focus on four main areas, inclusive of Groove Co. cultural program delivery, consultancy, cultural exchange and of course, our dance troupe. Groove Co’s CEO is Rockhampton woman Zhanae Dodd who is a Ghungalu, Wadja (Gurubil skingroup), Birri, Widi/Wiri and Kaanju woman with a background in Journalism, Marketing, Community Engagement, Consultancy, Youth Work, Case Management, entrepreneurship, policy design and politics, cultural knowledges, and Pacific Affairs engagement. Groove Co. believes that cultural immersion, connection, and reclamation is what Australia and the wider Pacific needs to stay in its magic. This year we have also proudly partnered with fellow local Indigenous company, Mundagatta Culture Pty Ltd.
